The Center For Active Retirement (CAR) provides enriching, programming and activities for active older adults living in Rockingham County. Our centrally located Senior Center of Excellence gives participants the opportunity to use their experiences, education, training, and skills to help others while enriching their own lives.

Fellowship
People attending CAR have the opportunity to meet new people, build lasting friendships, and connect with their community in new and exciting ways.

Programming
Center Coordinator, Cheryl Albrecht, creates and coordinates innovative programming, activities, and speakers to enrich, educate, and engage participants. These include:
- exercise and dance classes
- crafts and games
- community presentations and speakers
- trips and outings
- computer and other skill building classes
- civic engagement opportunities and much more!

Education
In addition to the numerous skill-building classes offered at CAR, participants can also participate in Evidenced-Based class series around caregiving, disease management, and fall prevention.

Eligibility Requirements
In order to participate in Center for Active Retirement programs and activities a person must meet the following criteria:
1. Age 55 or older
2. Reside in Rockingham County

Is there a cost?
There is no cost to attend the Center for Active Retirement; however some activities and trips may require a participant to pay a fee. The Center is funded through the Home and Community Care Block Grant (federal and state dollars allocated through the Older American’s Act to support seniors in their communities), private contributions, and donations.

The Center for Active Retirement is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Where is it located?
The Center for Active Retirement has two buildings dedicated to senior education and activities. They are conveniently located in Wentworth:
